Sony Pictures pauses Bad Bunny’s debut as a superhero "The dead" from Marvel The Speaker of Puerto Rico

The premiere of El Muerto, the Marvel film Bad Bunny was set to star in, has been pulled from the Sony Pictures release calendar, according to US media.

Multiple digital outlets reported that last Wednesday, Sony reported it was postponing the premiere of the Spider-Man spinoff movie. However, the film studio did not give a new release date for the project, which is still in its early stages, nor did it offer any additional comments.

The media also reported that while the film is still in development, Bad Rabbit will reportedly not be starring in “El Muerto” due to his touring schedule and the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike interfering with the film’s release schedule would have made the film more difficult.

However, Benito Ocasio Martínez, the 29-year-old artist’s first name, has not yet confirmed or denied that he will be part of the cast.

In April 2022, Sony Pictures announced that the Puerto Rican superstar would play Marvel’s first Latino hero, El Muerto, in the film, directed by Jonás Cuarón, which was scheduled to premiere on January 12, 2024.

“El Muerto”, known as Juan Carlos Estrada Sánchez in the Marvel Comics, is a fighter who inherits his powers from his ancestors through his mask, which grants him superhuman strength. In the comics, “El Muerto” entered the ring with Spider-Man himself.

“Bringing El Muerto to life is just amazing… very exciting,” the Safaera interpreter said during Sony’s presentation at the annual cinema owners’ convention at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, according to the magazine. Variety.
