Sophie Turner has claimed she found out in the media that her estranged husband Joe Jonas had filed for divorce – as the British actress sues her ex to try to get their two children returned to their native Britain.
The latest bitter twist in the couple’s messy divorce battle came on Thursday when documents filed in US District Court in New York revealed that the 27-year-old Game Of Thrones alum is requesting “the children’s return to England.”
Jonas, 34, shocked fans around the world when he filed for divorce from the mother of his two children in Miami, Florida, earlier this month.
It appears that Turner was equally taken aback, as the court document states: “Thereafter, very suddenly, the breakdown of the parties’ marriage occurred.” On August 15, 2023, an argument broke out between the parties.

“On or about September 1, 2023, the father filed a divorce action against the mother in Florida. On or about September 5, 2023, the mother learned through the media that the father had filed for divorce.
The couple had been married for four years and shared daughters, three-year-old Willa and one-year-old DJ.
In documents seen by , Turner claims the couple had planned to move to a new home in England with their children before their split.
“The parties’ mutual plan was for the mother and children to join the father and his extended family in part of the father’s band’s U.S. tour and then return home to England,” the document states.
It continued: “The family would continue to live in a rental property in England and then move together into their new home in England upon completion in December 2023.”
“In order to further the parties’ joint plan, the children traveled to the United States with the father and their nanny.”
Turner’s lawyer also claims that Jonas provided “false” information about their children’s residence for the past six months in his own divorce filings.
The court documents state: “In his Florida divorce petition, the father requests, among other things, a divorce, a parenting plan and a time-sharing plan to be ordered by the Florida state court.”

Turner broke down the exact living arrangements the family had encountered over the past year to prove her claim that her children had “stayed at the Miami property only three times for a total of approximately 11 weeks.”

Over the past 12 months, the couple and their children have reportedly traveled from property to property in New York, London, Miami, Las Vegas and Warwickshire, England.
The Do Revenge star explained that the couple discussed their desire to raise their children in England “throughout their marriage.”
“During their time in England over Christmas 2022, the mother and father jointly decided that they would seek their “forever home” in England, select a school for their older daughter in England and settle their family in England,” they said documents. “The parties agreed that the time was right for the family to settle permanently in England, particularly given the age of the older child. “Both parties were both happy about the family moving to England.”
Turner’s lawyer claims the couple began searching for their “forever home” in December 2022 and the search will continue until July this year.
Their lawyers have claimed that “the parties located a beautiful country property in Henley on Thames, England and both agreed to purchase the property as a permanent family home.”
The couple had given a reported completion date of December 2, 2023 and were looking forward to “spending their 2023 Christmas holidays with the children, family and friends in their new home in England”.
She also claimed that many of her children’s personal belongings were shipped to England in March.
Turner has now claimed that hitmaker Jonas will not return her children’s passports to prevent their return to the UK
“On or about September 17, 2023, the parties met to discuss their separation,” the petition states.
“The mother reiterated the plan agreed by the parties that the children should return to England this week.” The father is in possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the mother’s passports and refuses to send the children home to England with their mother.
Following news of their divorce, reports surfaced that she “likes to party and he likes to stay home.”
Various sources claiming to have “direct knowledge” of the situation have informed US gossip sites, including TMZ, that Joe was looking after his children full-time during the tour – while Sophie was in the UK filming new series Joan .

The 33-year-old Bad Blood hitmaker met the 27-year-old actress as they enjoyed a relaxed dinner on Via Carota in the heart of the city.
Some online fans claimed that the appearance contributed to claims that Turner was more interested in partying than caring for her children, claims the actress has chosen not to dignify with a public response.
Instead, the actress hit back in court when the documents revealed her claim that the couple agreed “with some hesitation” that the children would be with their father and a nanny in August.
“When the father is on tour, he is busy performing in the evenings, but has time during the day to spend time with the children,” the documents state.
After some hesitation, the parties planned and agreed that it would be best for the children to travel to the United States in August with the family’s father and nanny, while the mother traveled in September to join the family in the United States States to meet in 2023.’
