After the storm that has gripped him in recent months, MP Aboubakar Soumahoro has denied the allegations against him a full bodied Dossier. In the text he goes into the most recent controversies, explains what he knew about the cooperatives in the crosshairs Prosecutor’s Office Latina, and makes some broader reflections on the prejudices that would have influenced the deterioration of his public image. Moreover, after growing tensions, he makes a final decision: to leaveAlliance Green Left and join that Common faction. The decision comes after rumors leaked in late December that the coalition was considering being kicked out. Soumahoro anticipates the times and takes the opportunity to remove a few stones from his shoe: “To be honest, I was amazed and bitter, with the exception of a few parliamentarians, the lack of human solidarity and political support of the parliamentary group Alliance Verdi-Linke (AVS)». And that is why, he continues, his choice was “motivated by careful and painful reflection”, also on a human and political level.
The controversial “right to elegance”
The two cooperatives linked to the MP’s family members were the starting point of a long series of allegations and controversies. Like the one he says erupted in the salons of La7 when Soumahoro, underlining the discrepancy with lamented economic hardships at work to those who disputed his partner’s luxurious clothing, replied: “The right to elegance and fashion is freedom, Fashion is neither black nor white». Statements that had left the public at a loss and the unions outraged: “In addition to the right to fashion, there should also be thatObligation and obligation to pay wages», she had commented UilTuc’s Latina, the organization that sided with the two workers who reported they received a request for false billing in order to get paid. Soumahoro today responds to the allegations in the above dossier: “I am sincerely sorry that they did not understand what I really meant when I spoke about the right to fashion and elegance, where I wanted to refer to the right of everyone to to dress as he sees fit,” he begins. Except to add: “However, I find it really odd that I’m being asked to give a value judgment on photos of my partner taken 4 years before I met her”. The text also includes a parenthesis in defense of the aforementioned partner Liliane Murekatete: “The woman who bears the provocative moniker ‘Lady Gucci’ has been the focus of a series of fierce comments and insinuations from the press and opinion leaders of various kinds.”
The Caribou Question
Soumahoro also commented on the investigations of the public prosecutor Latinnamely to one of the two cooperatives involved in the investigation, the caribou. Explanatory: “At the end of 2021 I read some press articles about the non-payment of some Karibu employees and – although I have no direct interest in the cooperatives – asked for immediate clarification on this.” “I have been informed – he continues – that all the money needed to pay salaries has not yet been received, that the authorities have been summoned and, I am told, that hopefully everything will be done in a reasonable manner way would be resolved time”.
Doubts about the presence of children in the Foggia slums
Soumahoro is also keen to provide the necessary clarifications regarding the news that he has been giving gifts to children in the province’s slums fog. Where, some argued, The children weren’t there. «To answer those who say that there are no children in the village, I would like to clarify that there are children, but they cannot live in the settlement due to the environmental and sanitary conditions that are completely inadequate for them, so parents are often forced are to be taken away and left with Italian families or their compatriots to take them into their homes, and anyone who actually works in the area can rely on that». He claims that the farm workers themselves could confirm his execution about what happened in 2021: “We organized a fundraiser to celebrate Christmas for children and workers in the settlement, a party was organized for the occasion and gifts were distributed. That day there was a fire – unfortunately not uncommon given the chronic lack of security in the settlements – which forced us to interrupt the party». For this reason, he concludes, “we gave the gifts to the farmhands, who later gave them to the children. Only bad faith can draw any conclusions other than what actually happened.”
«What I represent is disturbing»
A final comment on the causes, which he believes to be «unjustified persistence‘ in his greetings. An Afro descendant, he explains, “is fine as long as he’s a ‘court negro’, as long as he protests with banners, which I’ve done a thousand times and will never stop when he’s poor and marginalized. But when he tries to make a leap in quality, he immediately interferes.” The attacks were therefore intensified by two dimensions: one “in relation to him as an individual” and one to the “social model” that he represents working union founded by him. Namely a system in which “not only foreign but also Italian sales representatives determine and manage themselves”. Something that he says is “very scary, it drains power from a welfare system whose aim is to maintain the state of emergency, simply because as long as there’s an emergency, money will flow to deal with the emergency, and , since nothing happened by accident, maybe this can help to understand why there is so much unwarranted anger against me”.
