Why Mad Dog Gives The Eagles The Super Bowl Lead Over The Chiefs

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo cites the NFC’s weakness to explain why the Eagles have a higher chance of a Super Bowl return than the Chiefs.

ST. JOSEPH, Missouri — Wide receiver Kadarius Toney will miss some training sessions at Kansas City Chiefs training camp but is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season after suffering a worse knee injury on Sunday, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.

Toney, who underwent an offseason knee clean, injured himself on a punt before the start of practice Sunday when the Chiefs started camp. On the first two days of the camp, he did not take part in either of the two training sessions.

Tight end Travis Kelce called Toney “electrifying” and “energetic” after Monday’s practice, saying, “We already miss this guy.”

“We will miss KT, his ability to make a play out of nothing. We’re crossing our fingers to get him back as soon as possible.”

The Chiefs have rebuilt their wide receiving group over the past two seasons after trading Tyreek Hill and losing JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency. Toney was a key player in this effort. The Chiefs traded a few draft picks last year for Toney, a first-round pick from the New York Giants in 2021.

After the trade, Toney was at times spectacular for the Chiefs, never more so than in the fourth quarter of their Super Bowl LVII win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He caught the touchdown pass that put the Chiefs ahead early in the quarter and later set up another touchdown with a 65-yard punt return.

However, due to injuries, Toney has yet to play a full NFL season. As a rookie, he missed six games with the Giants and was limited to nine games last season.
