NASHVILLE, Tennessee. The Tennessee Titans have acquired wide receiver Robert Woods from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2023 sixth-round pick, sources confirmed to ESPN on Saturday night.

Woods tore his cruciate ligament on November 13 and was due to receive a $3.5 million bonus from Rams Sunday. The veteran wide receiver became available after Los Angeles signed free-agent wide receiver Allen Robinson to a three-year, $45 million contract last Thursday.

The Titans’ acquisition of Woods gives them a viable option as the team’s second wide receiver. Tennessee released Julio Jones on Wednesday with an appointment after June 1. The move saved the Titans $9.5 million on the cap. In 2022, Woods hit the $13.5 million salary cap. The 30-year-old wide receiver signed a four-year, $65 million contract with the Rams in 2020. In the remaining years of his contract, he did not have a single salary cap.

Woods, 29, was drafted in the second round by the 2013 Buffalo Bills of USC and had 45 Super Bowl receptions last season for a total of 556 yards and four touchdowns before suffering a serious knee injury. He was a key offensive player early on as the Rams picked up steam and played new quarterback Matthew Stafford in only nine games. Meanwhile, Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. became Stafford’s main targets on their way to the title.

Although he was no match for his teammates for the Super Bowl, Woods did speak to reporters in front of him and expressed his appreciation for the postseason run.

“I feel like lately I’ve been able to get over that ‘Oh man, I’m not a part of this’ feeling,” Woods said at the time. “I feel like the team was very, very big, like, ‘You’re part of this, you’re part of this, you’re part of this.’ At first you just had an injury, you just had surgery and you’re like, “Dude, I was just doing this a few weeks ago”… But actually, I feel like I was able to get through it and was able to really enjoy the whole experience play -off”.

Many teammates praised Woods’ attitude and approach throughout the journey, including Stafford.

“Robert Woods is the Los Angeles Rams,” he said. “When I think about him, I think about toughness. I think about attention to detail. I think about selflessness and think about all the things that we talk about as a team that we want to be. into one person.

“Few guys on our team care about other guys more than Robert Woods.”

Woods has 7,077 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns in his career on 570 receptions.
