The “all-inclusive season” is just around the corner and, like every year, the selection of holiday packages is very large. While some stretches of beach on the Caribbean or Pacific coast are secluded from the hustle and bustle, others are closer to the action. This list (not exhaustive!) presents all-inclusive destinations that offer both beautiful beaches and the opportunity to make local discoveries without taking part in long and distant excursions.
1. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

On Mexico’s Pacific coast in the state of Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta is both a large city and a seaside resort. We enjoy strolling around on our Malecon, a 1.5 km long beach promenade with statues and terraces, but also a trip to the cobbled streets of the old town or “Zona Romantica”. There we discover bars and tourist shops, but also more cultural places such as the famous Notre-Dame de Guadalupe church. There are various all-inclusive areas in Puerto Vallarta. Be well informed so you don’t get too far away from the action.

2. Barbados

Because Barbados is small and densely populated, it is a great option for those who want to get out of their hotel and enjoy the local culture. Several all-inclusive options await you near the capital, Bridgetown. On the west coast the sea is calm and turquoise, while further south the waves are often a surfer’s delight. During your stay, visit the capital (ideally with a guide) and don’t miss the Friday Fish Fry in Oistins. It’s a lively evening when Barbadians and tourists gather to sample grilled fish sold at dozens of seaside stalls.

3. Cancun, Mexico

This destination on the Yucatán Peninsula can be described as a true “two-in-one” as it consists of a hotel zone and a city center that are very close to each other. There are countless all-inclusive hotels along the sea, on a peninsula with beautiful white beaches. Restaurants, bars, local attractions and museums await visitors in the Centro. Add to this the nearby Mayan ruins, natural parks and the delights of Mexican gastronomy, and you definitely won’t be too bored.
4. Havana, Cuba

Be careful, there are no sandy beaches or “true” all-inclusive packages right in the heart of the charming Cuban capital. However, it is possible to book European packages (flights, transfers, overnight stays, breakfasts) with Quebec’s main tour operators. Transat in particular also has week-long packages that combine a few days in Havana and a few days in Varadero, just over 2 hours away. Varadero is known for its 20 km of white sand and dozens of all-inclusive resorts, while Havana is a true jewel of the Caribbean with its Old Town, rich history and unique culture. A duo worth considering!

5. Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

It is not in the Puerto Plata region that you will find the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic. On the other hand, you have access to a historic city at the foot of green mountains, including a fortress, a cable car and various museums. About 1 hour away you can also discover a particularly beautiful “beach town”: Cabarete. This destination is well known among kitesurfing enthusiasts and has a huge, busy beach lined with restaurants, terraces, bars and small shops. There are some rare all-inclusive offers there, such as Sunwing’s Viva Tangerine by Wyndham.

6. Tulum, Mexico

Who hasn’t heard of Tulum on the beautiful Yucatan Peninsula? What was once a destination for backpackers and adventurers has become a trendy and popular destination with its beautiful beaches, nature reserves and Mayan ruins, as well as its bars, cafes, Instagrammable eco-lodges and festive evenings. There is now a hotel zone not far from the event. The choice is relatively limited if you want to stay less than 30 minutes’ drive from the center, but you could check out Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club with Air Canada Vacations or Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa with Sunwing.
