South Tyrol: German student dies after falling from balcony

Drama on a ski lesson trip of a German class in South Tyrol! A 12-year-old boy fell from a hotel balcony and died. The boy fell from the second floor onto the asphalt on Sunday and suffered serious injuries. He succumbed to it on Tuesday morning at Bolzano hospital, a spokesperson for the clinic said on request.

The school gang – where exactly they came from was not initially disclosed – only arrived in St. Johann im Ahrntal on Saturday, local media reported. Thus, the serious accident occurred on Sunday morning, when the boy climbed onto the balcony railing for reasons yet to be clarified. From there, he dropped several meters below.
Because of his serious injuries, he was taken by helicopter to the hospital in Bolzano, but doctors were unable to save his life. Colleagues and teachers received psychological support. The carabinieri are investigating the exact course of the accident. (kra with dpa)
