According to a statement from the Angolan Foreign Ministry released on Friday, the working meeting is scheduled for today at 2:00 p.m. (local time) at the InterContinental Hotel in Luanda.
The event will be opened by the Executive Secretary of SADC, Elias Mpedi Magosi; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Zambia, Stanley Kakubo, in his capacity as President of the Council of Ministers of the regional bloc body.
The meeting precedes the Community summit to be held tomorrow to analyze the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Democratic Republic of Congo is facing one of the world’s largest internal displacement and humanitarian crises, with a record 6.9 million people forced to leave their homes, the vast majority of them humanitarian Need help.
Fighting in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, especially north of Goma, the provincial capital of North Kivu, has intensified since the beginning of October, displacing hundreds of thousands of people.
In this province alone, nearly a million residents have fled due to fighting between rebels from the March 23 Movement (M23), the Democratic Republic of Congo army and so-called “patriotic” armed groups from other parts of the country.
