Spain also wants mandatory testing for travelers from China

In view of the rapid increase in the number of CoVs in China, Spain also wants to require travelers from the People’s Republic to take a full test or vaccination upon entry. The announcement was made by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, at a press conference this morning. The minister did not initially give an exact date when the restrictions would apply. That will be decided soon, she said.

Furthermore, Spain will endeavor to define a common line for all EU countries on this issue as soon as possible. Several countries such as Italy and the US have already introduced or announced entry restrictions. According to the Ministry of Health, no mandatory testing is planned in Austria.

The EU is also considering other measures. Discussions on this took place yesterday at EU level. EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides urged states to review their national surveillance measures for the virus and, if necessary, step them up again.
