In certain weather conditions, landing can be extremely difficult due to strong winds, thick fog or storms. Pilots often have to demonstrate exceptional skills to ensure everyone’s safety.

Additionally, pilots sometimes fail to land the first time and often require a second attempt.

An aborted landing causes stress for passengers on board and is a sight for sore eyes for plane spotters, enthusiasts who hang out near airports to capture never-before-seen images.

Impressive take-off of a British Airways B787

In London, at Heathrow International Airport (LHR), the skies are often cloudy and winters are long and windy, which doesn’t always help the pilots who venture there.

Recently, a British Airways Boeing 787 experienced unpredictable weather at the airport. As the plane was about to land, it aborted the landing at the last moment.

This sequence can be viewed on the social network X, formerly Twitter. The specialized account “Aviation” published this impressive maneuver, which was captured by the spotter BigJetTVLIVE.

The Boeing lies well aligned on the runway in the cloudy and foggy sky of the British capital. It gradually loses height. A few meters above the ground it sways slightly under the force of the wind, although the pilot tries to keep the nose up.

While we assume that the front wheel of the plane hits the tarmac first, the plane is buffeted by the wind and it is the landing gear that hits the ground a moment before the pilot flies around again.

The landing was aborted and the British Airways Boeing took to the air again, probably for a second lap of the runway to attempt the maneuver again.

Aborted landing: Internet users praise the pilot’s skills

“Excellent aborted landing of a crazy Boeing 787 at LHR,” reads the description of the video, which has been viewed more than 94,000 times since it was posted online.

In the comment section, many Internet users do not understand why the pilot decided to take a scenic flight even though the plane had touched the ground.

“What was wrong?” “, one of them asks, to which we answer: “You probably realized that the distance on the runway was not enough to land safely and stop the plane.”

Others seem to understand the significance of the decision to abort the landing. They continually praise the pilot’s skills and his ability to make such a decision so quickly.

In the stack we discover a comment that posted a video of the aborted landing seen from the inside from the plane. The images of the flight filmed by a passenger are just as impressive as those of the approach from outside.

The same passenger is filming this second landing attempt, much better than the first. Despite the bad weather conditions, the landing seems to be smoother. The pilot successfully completed her mission and landed the aircraft safely.
