Andreescu’s first duel in Berlin will not be easier than Raonic’s. The WTA’s 35th hitter was humiliated by Vondrousova in Rome in May when the Czech defeated her 6-0, 6-1. On a different surface – grass instead of clay – Andreescu could do better. In ‘s-Hertogenbosch she won in the second round last week ahead of Viktoria Kuzmova. She had escaped nine set points, then the game against the Slovak. By making a little better use of her chances, Andreescu was able to put the bad memory of her first meeting with Vondrousova behind her.

Baseball: New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners

After losing their last four games, the Yankees are on track to lose third-place finish in the American League East Division to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Boston Red Sox, who won both titles in the series against New York in June, are also on the way. The Mariners usually win every other game this season, but they can’t really convince away from home. The local heroes could find their way back at Yankee Stadium.
