Sports Betting: Will the Drake Curse Continue?

Canadian rapper Drake is so confident that Logan Paul will knock out Dillon Danis in the boxing match between them on Saturday night that he’s bet $850,000.

He announced this to his approximately 143 million Instagram subscribers in a publication on the platform on Thursday evening. It remains to be seen whether he will have better luck than before, as he is known for losing big bets. Among other things, he is said to have bet around $1 million on the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, the NBA final and the Super Bowl LVII final. Athletes like Conor McGregor and Serena Williams have already suffered defeats after Drake’s bets.

One thing’s for sure: We can’t blame Drake for not following the phrase “act, not speak” to the letter.

Mediated duel

As reported by TMZ, the singer claimed to support Paul because Danis had shared numerous insults and photos about his opponent’s fiancée, Nina Agdal, on the X platform. These attacks were so frequent that the woman even obtained a cease and desist order against the boxer.

“Never bet against revenge and reckoning,” Drake said on Instagram.

The elder Jake Paul, another YouTuber-turned-boxer, seemed very happy to count the star among his supporters.

“Easy money,” he replied in response to Drake’s promise.

Dillon Danis was pretty frustrated with how much the singer dared to accuse him of.

“[Ce total de] $850,000 on my head is a lack of respect,” wrote the man who has two submission victories in mixed martial arts.

On Tuesday morning, a scuffle broke out between the two pugilists during the pre-fight press conference. After Paul threw a water bottle at Danis, the latter threw a microphone, which cut his opponent near the right eye but did not cause any damage that would jeopardize the fight.
