Spring will keep coming

Spring may have officially arrived more than a week ago, but Quebecers, who tremble with impatience at the thought of getting out their BBQ and settling on their patio, still have a few weeks to wait.

After a surprisingly warmer than average month of March, the first half of April is likely to be colder than usual.

“To hope to have days above 10 degrees regularly, we will have to wait until the third week of April for southwest Quebec. The forecasts tell us that April as a whole should average below the seasonal average,” analyzed André Cantin, meteorologist at Environment Canada.

No blast of hot air is expected at the moment, which could bring heat for several days in a row. The mercury could occasionally reach or exceed the 10-degree mark in the metropolis, especially early next week, but will then plummet again.

Nevertheless, the maximum daily temperature in Montreal goes from an average of 6 degrees Celsius in early April to 14 degrees Celsius at the end of the month. So, even if the temperatures stubbornly follow the seasonal normality, the days with more than 10 degrees will come at some point, Mr. Cantin philosophized.
