SQ searches banks after toddler’s death in Bois-des-Filion

Research by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) continues as part of the investigation into the death of a three-year-old toddler that occurred on Monday in the Bois-des-Filion in the Laurentians.

On Saturday, an SQ mobile command post was near the scene of the tragedy in the hope of finding new clues that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. Special police officers were on duty conducting ground searches on Saturday.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Sûreté du Québec since charges were brought against a 19-year-old young man who was at the scene of the tragedy in a residence on 34th Avenue on November 6th. The Terrebonne-Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines-Bois-des-Filion Intercommunal Police Service was first called to the scene at around 5:30 p.m. and is cooperating with the SQ’s investigation. Despite resuscitation maneuvers, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people were arrested, one of whom appeared at the Laval courthouse in recent days.

It concerns a 19-year-old man who is facing various charges, including criminal negligence causing death, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and obstruction of justice.

It is believed to be a family member of the victim, which the police have not yet confirmed at this time. There are two additional persons of interest who were arrested and subsequently released. The investigation is obviously ongoing, she emphasized.

The murder weapon was not found, which partly explains the police searches on the banks.

More specifically, the mobile command post is located on 33rd Avenue in Bois-des-Filion and we have police officers specialized in land searches from the emergency intervention module to search the banks and surrounding areas in search of clues in this file he to spokesman for the SQ. According to Sergeant Bilodeau, the SQ divers’ trip was not planned for Saturday.
