Stabbed to death while robbing a Halifax apartment

A man has been stabbed to death while attempting a home invasion in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Police were called to intervene on Robie Street around 7pm last Friday. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 26-year-old man who had been badly stabbed. His death was announced on the spot.

The inquest found the victim, Anthony Robert Herritt, and Tyler Jayson Saulnier, 28, were breaking into an apartment when confronted by its resident. An altercation reportedly broke out between the three people.

“[Saulnier] fled the scene but then surrendered to the police,” police said in a press release, specifying that the incident was not an accidental one.

No criminal charges have been filed in connection with the young man’s death. However, his accomplice is threatened with burglary, criminal assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon that endangers public peace, wearing a disguise and violating the conditions of probation.
