Alexandre Gagné, an economics teacher at Stanislas College in Montreal, faces 15 sexual charges. These crimes were allegedly committed against seven young people from 2019 to 2022.
The 48-year-old man appeared at the Montreal courthouse on Tuesday afternoon.
The charges against him are: sexual exploitation, sexual assault, baiting, threats, acts of indecency, distribution of child pornography, providing a child with sexually explicit material, extortion and cannabis distribution.
The school communicated with the parents via email to confirm the teacher’s suspension and unreservedly condemned all the behavior reported in the media.
We remain in close collaboration with the SPVM to help advance the investigation and encourage any student or staff who is a victim of abuse or harassment to contact the appropriate authorities, reads the letter intended for parents.
Psychological support is offered to those who feel the need, adds the school’s director/general, Thomas Saène.
