Star Académie meeting at the Videotron Center: the strong emotions of the 15th academic Math Duff – Le Journal de Québec

Thousands of fans at the Videotron Center on Friday night were excited by the idea of seeing the stars of the first season of Star Academybut the angriest of them all was undoubtedly the comedian Math Duff.

How bad is he at Star Académie?

Even though he was at the Bell Center in Montreal last week, he was determined to come back and see the show. And in Quebec it's not over yet.

“I had so many emotions that I passed out in Montreal, I don't remember the show. That's where I came to see the show for the first time,” he confided to the Journal backstage, where he met his childhood idols.

His love for the Star Académie did not go unnoticed by the stars of the first year.

“This afternoon I went on stage during training and Émily Bégin officially named me the 15th academic,” said Math Duff when Le Journal met him backstage before the show.

He couldn't believe it, he who said he felt like little Mathieu from Saguenay, 9 years old, who never missed anything from the popular reality TV.

“I wanted to check the academy's security cameras. When I think about it after all these years, it's a little crazy, but I thought I liked it. I watched the participants in the house, I enjoyed seeing them live. »

For different reasons, but no less touching, Michel and Maïna Bastien did not want to miss this awaited reunion for anything in the world.

“We are experiencing emotions that we experienced twenty years ago,” confided the proud father of Jean-François Bastien.

Maïna was two years old and therefore could not witness her father's journey to the Star Académie. This is his chance to pull himself together. “I've heard about it my whole life,” said the young woman, overwhelmed by her father's achievement. “I think he’s really beautiful. »

Proud Acadians

Two decades later, the grand winner of the inaugural Star Académie, Wilfred LeBouthillier, remains a source of pride for Acadians. Several buses full of fans of the now 45-year-old singer traveled from the peninsula to Quebec to attend the show.

Acadian flags flew proudly at the Videotron Center as Wilfred was on duty.

“It's supposed to show him that we're still here twenty years later. We will always follow him and support him,” said Nadine Losier emotionally.

Memories memories

The nostalgic die-hard fans of the show that Le Journal met all had anecdotes or memories to share before dancing and singing with Marie-Mai, Wilfred, Marie-Élaine, Suzie, Annie and the others.

“I bought all the magazines, tore off the posters and hung them up in my room. I had the CD, I knew the lyrics by heart. Today I realized that I no longer knew them all by heart, but it will come back,” said Ève-Marie Hovington.

The same scenario applies to Marie-Pierre Bernier-Faucher and Élodie Beaurivage, who did not miss a gala on Sunday evening. They were happy to relive the excitement between friends. “It shaped our youth,” they said, certainly reminding us of many young people in their thirties in the amphitheater.

9-year-old Lila Carrier obviously wasn't born yet, but her mother, Isabelle Paquette, told her everything and expressed her love for the 2003 singers. “It’s part of our culture,” she explained.

The little one's eyes lit up when she was asked who her favorite was. “Jean Batailleur,” she answered, pointing to who but Wilfred.
