In addition, two firefighters were swept down the Gouffre River yesterday while near Route 138. The Sûreté du Québec claims to have lost sight of the two engineers around 2 p.m. in the sector of rang Saint-Georges in Saint-Urbain. They are still missing despite the search undertaken to find them.
- Over QUB radioChertsey Mayor Michelle Joly discusses next steps for emergency response:
This morning the water level of the river Gouffre is lower than yesterday but the expected rains in the region are a cause for concern.
Route 138 and byways remain closed to traffic.
Trailers installed at Le Genevrier campsite were washed away by the Rivière des Mares waters. The damage is significant.
