L’AEROX 9 WIRELESS arrives in an orange box. Above we have a picture of the mouse. We also have the brand name and model reference. On the back you will find more information about the characteristics of the field mouse. On the left we have a picture of the mouse and on the right technical information. Finally, on the bottom we have the barcodes and logos of the various European standards.
Let’s go to the box. The mouse stands on a black plastic base. Below we have an information leaflet, a two meter USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, an adapter and the WiFi dongle
In terms of design, the mouse is quite nice, it is black in color and very “airy”. In fact, the bottom of the mouse is almost completely open. This also allows us to see the interior and components. But she still has the technology AquaBarrier with protection index IP54 offers water resistance and protection from dust, dirt and more.
We have, of course, the traditional left and right buttons, the wheel, and finally a button in the middle.
On the underside we have three PTFE pads, one of which surrounds the TrueMove AIR optical sensor. We also have the switch to switch to 2.4GHz, Bluetooth or turn off the mouse. Finally on the front we have the location for the USB cable.

Started
There are different ways to hold your mouse depending on how you feel and of course the shape of the mouse:
- The Palm Grip: The hand lies completely flat on the mouse
- The claw grip: The palm rests on the back of the mouse, but the fingers are curled perpendicular to the mouse buttons
- The fingertip grip: The hand does not touch the mouse and only the fingertips touch the buttons
The mouse is made for right-handed users and the hand position will be more palm grip.
SteelSeries GG software
SteelSeries GG software allows you to manage all the brand’s peripherals connected to the computer. The software is very easy to learn. In addition, each setting is explained almost in detail to understand the actions performed.
Upon opening the software, we notice that we have five main categories “Home”, “Moments”, “Engine”, “Giveaways” and “Sonar”. Finally, at the very bottom of the homepage, we have the “Settings” tab.
The first category, “Home”, offers a lot of information about the brand’s new products or to follow the esports news.
The second tab “Moments” collects the best actions of your games or just the moments you wanted to capture.
The third category, Engine, includes peripherals connected to the computer. This part interests us to make the settings related to the mouse. Simply click on the name of the device to be configured. We will return to the settings in more detail in the second part of the software presentation.
Freebies is the fourth tab and allows you to collect in-game rewards via codes to be activated.
Finally, on the last tab “Sonar” you can adjust all the audio settings. This is an ultra complete section that offers many different settings. But we will come back to this in more detail when we test one of the brand’s helmets.
Finally, in the “Parameters” section, you can customize the operation of the software.
Now let’s go back to the mouse settings via the “Engine” tab. Within this part we have three categories. The first thing we are most interested in is “Equipment”. This part is divided into two sub-parts, one dedicated to the technical settings of the mouse and the other to the adjustment of the RGB lighting. In the first part we can make changes to DPI, acceleration or the polling rate. But here we can also manage the battery settings.
In-game test: SteelSeries AEROX 9 WIRELESS
We are now on the playtest part of this mouse. So we decided on games with different characteristics like GTA V, Red Dead Redemption II, Age of Empire IV, Battlefield V and finally Resident Evil Village and on a perfectly matching game which is World of Warcraft. But we also used the mouse for our day-to-day use of writing, editing photos and the like.
This mouse is especially perfect in MMORPGs and MOBAs. In the World of Warcraft game, we were able to program all the shortcuts of the different spells that we need to play the game. Initially, the buttons on the side are a bit confusing. A sensation that we had not necessarily experienced with other models. But as soon as the mouse is picked up, it becomes a real asset in games. However, you have to be careful not to press the wrong button. In fact, these are very close and are not very large. It’s easy to do the wrong thing at the wrong time. However, the many settings allow you to be extremely precise and separate the different actions you want to see. Also, depending on the game we are playing, we can have different settings. The grip of the mouse is perfect and allows you to put your whole hand on the mouse. This allows you to feel very comfortable during the games. At no point, even after several hours of play, did we feel any pain or discomfort. The pads under the mouse allow for perfect gliding on many surfaces.
Conclusion: SteelSeries AEROX 9 WIRELESS
Here we are at the end of this test regarding the mouse SteelSeries AEROX 9 WIRELESS. First we are using on a mouse 18 keys and which is mainly aimed at MMORPG and MOBA players. We have a TrueMove AIR sensor Designed by SteelSeries. We have a sensitivity of up to 18,000 DPI for an acceleration rate of 40G, it is more than enough for many users and applications. The query rate is 1000Hz. The optical sensor responds perfectly and we have never had any dropouts or other problems.
We are made for a mouse right-handed with dimensions of 128 x 62.8 x 26.7 millimeters with a weight of 89 grams. Due to the somewhat original design, the mouse fits perfectly in a gaming area. In a professional environment, your colleagues may wonder what you really do!
On the design side, the mouse has 18 buttons. Including twelve at thumb height that allow great flexibility in games including MOBA, MMORPG or RPG. The mouse is comfortable to use both in the game and for professional use. The RGB is relatively subtle and can be set as it should via software. In addition, SteelSeries GG software is very good software that allows you to do many things.
In the game, the mouse reacts perfectly, the hand position is practical and comfortable. We feel a little sorry for the buttons that can sometimes lead to errors. It takes time to adjust and not make mistakes. So be careful not to start with irreversible spells, otherwise you and your party will die.
The mouse is available in the brand’s shop at a price of 159.99 euros or at a price of 140.37 euros at Amazon. A price without promotion a little high. We advise you to wait for promotions to get it, as is the case at the time of writing these lines, where this mouse costs between 100 and 110 euros depending on the retailer.
Finally, this mouse is very comfortable in everyday use. Its design is original and the performance is very good. However, the price is a bit high and the buttons, which can be confusing at first, force us to put a Silver HC Medalt.
