Stefano De Martino, conductor of the Bar Stella broadcast on Rai Due, from today gave a long interview on the pages of Tv, Smileys and Songs, on newsstands.
The judge from Amici, the Canale 5 talent show that enabled him to take off, shared what was the most valuable advice he received throughout his career:
Maria (De Filippi, ed.) told me at the beginning: “Be yourself”: that’s the hardest thing about television. It’s hard especially at the beginning, but today when I watch myself on TV and listen to myself, I recognize myself.
Then Stefano De Martino talked about dance, his first great love:
My father was a dancer at the San Carlo in Naples and as a child I loved seeing him in the theater but I never thought of pursuing the same career.
I was 10 and my sister Adelaide who was 5 wanted to go to dance school. My parents worked at the bar so I went with them. One day the dance teacher said to me, “Why don’t you try?” I tried and never stopped.
At some point, however, after years of apprenticeship and participation in the talent show, he decided to break new ground:
I am a slave to my enthusiasm. If I lose it, I’ll have to find a way to turn it back on. At the moment when dance had become a profession and there was nothing more for me to discover, it was natural for me to look at the television. I’m like this: when I’m uncomfortable I’m having fun, when I’m comfortable I’m bored.
