The Sherbrooke Phoenix on Friday announced the departure of its head coach and general manager after 11 years of loyal service. However, the team did not specify which club Julien will continue his career with.

His deputy, Olivier Picard, has assumed the position of General Manager of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

“We would like to thank Stéphane who has been a pillar of our organization,” commented Phoenix President Denis Bourque. It is good news to announce the retirement of a member of our organization as they are being promoted into the professional circles. We are proud that he is graduating from the American Hockey League and thank him for his dedication and service to the Phoenix.”

“Thanks also to Olivier, who has been with us for five seasons and has progressed within our organization to the point where he is now eligible for promotion with the Armada,” he added.

Julien was recognized by his peers in 2019-2020 with the Ron Lapointe Trophy, given to Head Coach of the Year. He received the same honor last season as well as receiving the Maurice Filion trophy, which is bestowed on the general manager par excellence.
