Stephanie McMahon has resigned from WWE

Less than a week after Vince McMahon’s return to the WWE Board of Directors, his daughter Stephanie McMahon announced her official retirement from her positions with the company. As of last June, McMahon has held the positions of co-CEO and co-chair, both positions shared with Nick Khan.

Stephanie announced her decision on Tuesday evening (Wednesday around 1 a.m. Italian time – ed.) on Twitter. In the publication, McMahon spoke about her return to WWE last year after being named co-CEO alongside Nick Khan, which she described as “a privilege.”

“I took a sabbatical from WWE about eight months ago and just a few weeks later I was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime. I’ve had the privilege of returning as Co-CEO and Co-Chair of WWE. I cannot express how proud I am to have led what I believe to be the largest company in the world, alongside a highly respected management team and one of the strongest executives I have ever known, my co-CEO Nick Khan.

Our founder, Vince McMahon, has returned to his role as Executive Director leading an exciting project of strategic alternatives. With the leadership of Nick and Paul “Triple H” Levesque as Chief Content Officers, I firmly believe that WWE is well positioned to continue to deliver unparalleled creative content and maximize returns for investors.

WWE is in such a strong position that I have decided to return to my hiatus and take it a step further by announcing my official retirement.

I can’t wait to get back to supporting WWE on the other side of the business where I started out as a kid just being a fan. I will always be loyal to WWE. I love our company, our employees, our superstars and our fans with all my heart. And I thank all our partners.

Thank you for everything.

Then. Now. forever. Together.

-Steph”

Stephanie McMahon’s press release reveals another significant update to the WWE org chart. Vince McMahon has indeed returned to take on the role of chairman of the company, as announced on the company’s website dedicated to the business section. The board reportedly voted unanimously to return McMahon to the role he held until last June.

McMahon will not be resuming the CEO role, which is now entirely in the hands of Nick Khan, at least for now. As announced by Stephanie herself, Triple H remains in the role of CCO.

For now, the changes to the WWE org chart will stop here. We will inform you as soon as possible of any other changes, should there be any.
