Steven Yeun will not be joining Marvel Studios' anti-hero-centric feature film, “Thunderbolts,” according to sources at .

Yeun's involvement in Thunderbolts was first reported in February, although Marvel never officially announced the cast. Five months earlier, the studio revealed during a D23 presentation that Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbor and Wyatt Russell were among the main Marvel cast members who would star in the film.

Like many tentpoles, “Thunderbolts” was hit last year by the double strikes of writers and actors that disrupted schedules across Hollywood. “Thunderbolts” was originally scheduled for July 2024, but was pushed back a year to July 2025 and filming has yet to begin.

Jake Schreier is directing Thunderbolts, which is rumored to feature a team-up of Marvel's anti-heroes and villains.

Yeun already leads a high-profile comic series as the voice actress of “Invincible,” Amazon’s adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comic.

He rose to fame as one of the leads on “The Walking Dead” and is in the awards race for his Netflix limited series “Beef.” He will compete for the Golden Globe for best male actor in a limited series on Sunday and will compete for the title of actor in a limited series at the Emmys later this month. (As an executive producer of “Beef,” he also received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Series or Limited Series.) This year, he has a role in Bong Joon-ho's “Mickey 17” and the Sundance Movie “Love Me” with Kristen Stewart.
