The day of the stock market Rhine level continues to fall – commodity traffic threatens to succumb

The most important for transport on the Rhine Level in Kaub in Rhineland-Palatinate continued to fall. According to the waterways and navigation administration, it was closed in the morning 42 centimeters and therefore round 5 centimeters lower than at the same time the day before. According to the authority’s forecast, the 40 centimeter mark could fall on Friday.
The fairway depth, which is decisive for transport, was only 1.59 meters the day before – this was less than in any other section of the Middle and Lower Rhine.
Cargo transport on the Rhine is already having problems because of the low water level. It looks like there could be more restrictions. Coal for power plants, for example, must therefore be transported by rail.
