This Wednesday (15th), a clumsy thief left extensive damage at a private airport in Sacramento, the capital of California, United States. The attacker tried to steal a helicopter but couldn’t even take off with the vehicle, which was destroyed after the crash.

According to broadcaster KCRA, Sacramento police reported that the thief broke into the airport late Wednesday morning. The suspect, who is still at large, hacked into four other helicopters before launching the fifth.

The attacker’s joy did not last long, as the aircraft crashed shortly afterwards. The helicopter’s propeller and tail were destroyed, and debris littered the Sacramento airstrip.


The Bell 407 helicopter can cost between R$ 5.3 million and R$ 11 million. The vehicle can be used for various activities, including aerial firefighting.

Also according to KCRA, the incident is being investigated by the FBI, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA, its acronym in English), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB, its acronym in English).
