Storm Knockout Cruise Ship: "Scenes from Titanic"

Frightened cruise passengers have had an unforgettable adventure, unfortunately for them for the worse. A storm hit the Carnival cruise ship in South Carolina, flooding it and ripping the doors off their hinges. The panic scenes were compared to those of the Titanic: beyond the material damage, the suffering of the passengers was evident.

The Journey of the Carnival Sunshine

Carnival Sunshine was returning to the Bahamas after a week-long voyage when she was caught in adverse weather conditions. Videos shared online by holidaymakers show flooded corridors full of glass and other debris, doors blown off their hinges and pipes shattered on the ground.

The crew members of the ship had to evacuate their quarters. During the storm, several passengers also complained of being made nauseous by the boat’s sudden movements: one traveler described being able to “smell sick people walking down the corridors,” the Chron reported.

Passengers also complained that they had not heard from the ship’s captain or crew members for hours. “They left us blind,” said one of the passengers. “Nobody assured us what was going on, where we were going, what the plan was. They could have kept us updated and told us everything.” Another passenger said he hadn’t heard from the captain or crew for more than 12 hours. In addition, all the rubble in the hallways and rooms remained after the storm damage.

Eventually, the ship was delayed returning to port.
