Storm Ophelia, now classified as a tropical depression, is making landfall in North Carolina, US, where a state of emergency has been declared, CNN reported.
The same applies to the states of Virginia and Maryland.

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood warning for Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Saturday.
The storm, which will bring flooding, heavy rain and strong winds, is expected to ease later today.
Around 70,000 households were affected by the power outages, and 14,000 customers are still without power.
According to CNN, five people were rescued at sea near Cape Lookout, North Carolina.
