Strange and uncomfortable: discover the photo of Elon Musk and his mother taken in New York by Annie Leibovitz

The famous billionaire at the head of Twitter (X), SpaceX and Tesla posed with his model mother Maye Musk. And the photo will not leave you indifferent.

The photo shoot conducted in New York by the famous photographer Annie Leibovitz, known for her portraits of stars, brought two together. In the Musk family, mother and son.

We are no longer presenting Elon MuskHead of the automobile company You are here and the Astronautical Society SpaceXand also X (the former Twitter), the richest man in the world and known for his eccentric side. But some may have missed his mother May Muska well-known and successful model Muse of L’Oréal.

So the photographer didn’t hesitate for her exhibition “Annie Leibovitz At Work,” which begins on September 16th.

A Photo that looks like a painting but that makes you a little uncomfortable. The artist’s work is sublime, however heavily criticized for the message it sends about the connections between Elon Musk and his mother.

A rather cold, not very warm photo

The colors are cold, the decor is non-existent and very metallic. In the background the window shows a New York landscape, but the two protagonists seem a bit strange.

Elon Musk, dressed in black, sits on an iron table, his face not smiling. His mother, Maye Musk, is placed in the center of the photo. Dressed in a white shirt, she stands behind her son as if they were both sitting astride a bench out of sight. She doesn’t smile either, but the way she raises her head is dignified.

What message did the artist want to convey? Everyone has a different feeling, but this photo is not a warm snapshot….

The very proud mother of the photo

For her part, Maye Musk seems pleased and happy with this photo. She also posted it on her Instagram account and praised her son and the photographer.

She explains, “I was really excited to do this photo shoot with Elon, my incredible son, and the legendary Annie Leibovitz.”

Before adding humorously: “Luckily my son had five minutes to look into it while he was in New York.”

Finally, we are promoting the exhibition “Annie Leibovitz At Work,” where visitors can admire the portrait, on view at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville through January 29, 2024.
