Police took more than $5,000 from the wallets of two young drivers who sped at more than 170 km/h on Highway 40 in Montreal on Tuesday evening.
The Sûreté du Québec said it pursued and caught two would-be drivers who were repeatedly overtaking in traffic and changing lanes dangerously near Highway 13 around 8 p.m.
As a reward for her heroics, the driver of the first car, a 22-year-old Montrealer who reached a top speed of 172 km/h, received a total of $3,471 in fines for the speed at which she was driving for “a had committed a crime.” “Act endangering life” and “Obstructing the work of a peace officer”.

Combined, the two drivers were fined a total of $5,038.
