Strictly Come Dancing 2022 Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu lead

Strictly Come Dancing 2022: Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu lead the rankings again with 34 points

Strictly Come Dancing’s third live show of the series arrived on BBC One on Saturday night, with the 15 couples facing the series’ first public vote.

After giving it their all on the dance floor last week, the celebs got back into a new routine thanks to the Movie Week Special in week three as things kicked into gear.

And at the top of the rankings were Tyler West and Dianne Buswell, who performed with their Charleston to Flash, Bang, Wallop! scored an impressive 38 out of 40 points! from half a sixpence.

The pair were praised with a series of positive comments from four judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse.

With two 10s, Motsi expressed that she loved “the lack of empty spaces in the routine” and called the routine “amazing.”

Fresh off their success last week, Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu performed a Waltz to One Hand, One Heart from West Side Story.

And the pair were once again delighted with their score, which raked in an impressive 34 out of 40 points.

Molly and Carlos took to the dance floor in glamorous ensembles, with Shirley describing them as “a partnership made in heavy.”

The other judges agreed, with Anton Du Beke telling Molly, “You’re beautiful to watch dance”.

Richie and Giovanni, who placed second in last week’s leaderboard, sambaed to Hakuna Matata from The Lion King.

The pair took to the dance floor in animal costumes as they played legendary capybara Pumbaa and meerkat Timon.

With 27 out of 40 points, Shirley Bassey’s performance was called “one of your best numbers yet”.

The pair appeared united throughout the show and appeared to shrug off recent rumors of a behind-the-scenes altercation – after reports they “didn’t click” off-camera.

Craig Revel Horwood didn’t seem as impressed as Shirley when he claimed the steps “needed more bounce,” but he “loved the characterization.”

Kym Marsh and her partner Graziano Di Prima performed the Charleston on Sweet Charity’s If My Friends Could See Me Now.

With her highest score to date, 33 out of 40, Craig called it her “best dance yet,” with Shirley agreeing, claiming it might be the best dance on the show.

Kym and Graziano appeared delighted with her score as he lifted her up and swung her around – after the star earlier this week expressed concerns about the spinning nature of the dance due to her vertigo.

She previously explained: “Well you see I have visual vertigo. I had a problem with my ears about 6 years ago and it caused me visual dizziness so basically even moving lights make me feel weird.

Before hitting the dance floor, her daughter said in the audience: “As she watched her confidence grow, she struggled with nerves for the first two weeks and was getting on with everything, but this week she texted me that she’s enjoying it . We’re so proud, she’s going to smash it.’

Next, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal danced the rumba to the theme from Jurassic Park.

The cameraman, who explained he “enjoyed the rumba,” and his professional partner scored 25 out of 40 points this week.

Again voicing his touch criticism, Craig “thought it was too placed and needed more expression” as “it was a bit boring”.

Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe took to the dance floor and played the cha cha cha to The Shoop Shoop Song (It’s In His Kiss) by Mermaids.

The pair scored 21 out of 40, putting them at the bottom end of the rankings – with Craig telling the pair it “looked stuffy”.

Anton thought there was a lot to like, but there is a “fundamental bottom-bottom failure”.

Next came Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova, who found themselves in the dance-off last week but dancing the Viennese waltz to Top Gun’s Hold My Hand.

Anton acknowledged Matt’s improvement over last week as he thought it was a “big improvement but a bit loose”.

The couple collected 21 points out of 40, which they didn’t seem too thrilled about compared to 22 points last week.

The show began with a sensational group performance by the professional dancers to the viral song We Don’t Talk About Bruno.

With a plethora of movie themes to choose from over the years, this week’s songs were a mixed bag of movie soundtracks from The Full Monty and Top Gun to Dirty Dancing and The Little Mermaid!

On last week’s show, Molly and Carlos topped the leaderboard with an impressive score of 34 out of 40 with their Quickstep performance as they wrapped up the show.

The duo took to the dance floor in bright pastel suits as they did a quick step to a cover of Beyonce’s Love on Top – which Molly admitted was her “favourite song”.

Second in the leaderboard were Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice, who took to the dance floor with a quickstep dance.

Scored 32 out of 40, just two below Molly, the performance was described as “absolutely beautiful” by judge Motsi Mabuse.

Meanwhile, Fleur East got emotional after her performance and shed a tear as she admitted emotions had “pent up” over the week.

Elsewhere, there was a tripartite split at the bottom of the rankings, with Tony Adams, Kaye Adams and Matt Goss all scoring just 22 out of 40 points.

In the end, however, it was Kaye Adams who was the first contestant to drop out of the series.

The Loose Women star and her pro partner Kai Widdrington failed to impress with their Charleston to Music! Music! Music! by Dorothy Provine.

The couple joined singer Matt Goss and his partner Nadiya Bychkova in the dance-off, with the network eventually giving her the marching orders.

After three of the four judges decided to vote her out, Kaye admitted it was the “correct result.”

With another star set to lose his spot on the show this week, the pressure will be on as the remaining contestants attempt to make it to week four’s BBC Centenary Special.

Strictly Come Dancing resumes on Sunday at 19:15 on BBC One – when a couple is eliminated from the competition for the first time this season.
