Strictly speaking, Anton Du Beke blushes as he receives a standing ovation during the live show following his NTA win as Best Talent Show Judge

He won Best Talent Show Judge Gong at Thursday’s National Television Awards.

And Anton Du Beke was still flying high on Saturday when he received a standing ovation from the Strictly Come Dancing audience during the live show.

The professional dancer and judge, 56, blushed as both the crowd and contestants began cheering his name – and pinning the coveted award in place.

As the show began, host Tess Daly made sure to acknowledge the win when she announced, “Shall we cheer our NTA winner Anton again?”

The camera then pand to the stunned judge shouting “Oh” while pulling a shocked face as the studio cheered.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas got up to clap as the crowd roared while a giggling Anton pinned the NTA award.

“He’s very happy,” said co-host Claudia Winkleman, as Anton’s response was inaudible as the crowd began chanting his name.

The group of celebrity attendees and their professional partners who took to the stage joined in as they clapped and sang for him.

Anton put his hand on his heart, stood up and bowed – thanking everyone for their support.

“I wouldn’t be anywhere without my fellow judges, but you can’t have this, it’s mine,” he joked while picking up the award, lifting it away from the rest of the jury.

The judge was elated during Thursday’s awards ceremony and in his speech thanked his wife Hannah Summers and the show’s executive producer Sarah James, saying, “Thank you to everyone who voted and is watching the show. Thanks to my wife.

“Sarah James, let me tell you about Sarah James. I love this woman, she is the greatest thing that can happen to television, thank you for giving me the job. That’s why I love her, I won’t deny that. Thank you very much.’

Last year’s winner, Rose Ayling-Ellis, joined the professional dancers on stage to accept the award.

She said: “I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for us. What makes Strictly special is that it features people who don’t often appear on TV. Over time you get used to it and it changes people’s perceptions.”
