Strictly speaking, Helen Skelton admits that “every single pro” wanted partner Gorka Marquez to win

Hamaza Yassin was crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing in Saturday’s grand finals.

And finalist Helen Skelton said it was clear from the faces of her and partner Gorka Marquez “how disappointed” they were at not winning the Glitterball trophy.

Speaking after viewers saw Gorka “angry” in the final, she said “every professional on the show” was desperate for him to win – having previously unsuccessfully reached the final twice.

Joining the dancer on her Radio 5 show on Monday, she told listeners: “Every professional on the show really wanted him to win and that says everything about him.

Adding: “He’s my hero of the week”.

Discussing Hamza’s win, she continued, “Obviously we’re happy for Hamza because he has shown some amazing dances throughout the season.

Speaking about the fans noticing his unhappy expression when the results were announced, Gorka said: “I wasn’t angry but I wanted Helen to end the season with the cherry.

“I was happy for Hamza and Jowita, they were amazing.”

Hamza and Jowita were crowned the winners of the hit show, although they ended up at the bottom of the rankings thanks to their show dancing, which was previously branded as “not overwhelming”.

“Gorka is angry and rightly so! Helen won in so many ways. Good on her and she’s my winner,” one fan tweeted.

“Gorka is absolutely furious and rightly so,” added another fan.

“What do you look like when you get mugged?” said another fan.

Gorka had previously reached the final in 2020 alongside Maisie Smith and in 2017 with Alexandra Burke.

Despite an angry Gorka jump message, he thanked fans and partner Helen Skelton for the 2022 series on Sunday.

The professional dancer showed no ill feelings as he also congratulated Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal on their victory.

Gorka took to Instagram to share a slew of playful behind-the-scenes snaps with Helen.

Captioning her, he wrote, “STRICTLY 22. Oh… Where do I start, it’s been an amazing journey. I am so grateful that I not only got to dance with you @helenskelton, but also be by your side on your very personal journey and witness your transformation from day one.

“Thanks for all the memories, laughs, coffee, toast, parent talks, car rides.
