Strictly Will Mellor holds his head after rehearsals while the exhausted star fights the flu virus

Will Mellor held his head in his hands as he returned to his London hotel after rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing on Friday.

The 46-year-old actor was seen exhausted after his first training session of the week after telling fans he was too ill to rehearse.

However, he insisted that despite his ill health, he WOULD perform the rumba to Ed Sheeran’s The Joker and The Queen with his pro partner Nancy Xu this weekend.

Will looked disheveled as he leaned against the counter in his quarters and squinted.

He wore a black T-shirt with a gray quilted vest over it and dark gray sweatpants.

Taking to his Instagram page on Thursday night, the actor told his 372,000 followers: “First of all I want to apologize for my sound, I haven’t been feeling well at all this week.”

He continued: “I went to training on Monday and just had to go home because I was feeling down and I’ve hung up on it ever since.

“I have a bug, virus, whatever you want to call it, and I was in pain all over, it’s terrible. If you have it out there, I feel your pain because a lot of it is around this time of year, these flu variants.

“I just did Strictly It Takes Two and a lot of people commented and said, ‘You sound really bad,’ so I just wanted to say thank you for your comments, but I probably sound worse than I am because I was coughing my throat out.

“But yeah, I went to practice for the first time today just to practice for a couple of hours because I have to perform live on Saturday night so let’s just hope I get through it.

“It’s Ed Sheeran’s Joker and The Queen that I’m doing this week and I love that song so I really want to do it justice.

“But we just have to see what I can do.”

It comes after Will revealed how he preserves the memory of his late father when he appears on the show.

The star, who lost his father Bill to cancer in 2020, wears his ring while hitting the dance floor.

He told Ok!: “I wear his ring every day to every gig. I always have a little moment with it before moving on and dancing. That means he’s with me.

“He gave me the confidence to go and do this. When I was a kid he used to say, ‘You can go and do it,’ and I came from somewhere where nobody was doing what I wanted to do.”

Will also shared how he agreed to do the show after his death to “seize every opportunity since life is so short.”
