Amy recently burst into tears as she shaved her hair after clumps fell out due to chemotherapy. She took the bold step of cutting the rest herself because it’s the only thing she can control.
A video posted to her Instagram page shows her loved ones taking turns cutting off strands of her hair before shaving off the rest. She explained: “Taking control – the hardest step yet.” I tried my best to save it…
“I know it’s just hair, but in the last few months I feel like I’ve had so much taken away from me that I don’t feel like Amy anymore…”
On the way up: She continued, “So far I have not been able to take control of this journey, but as you can see with some of my loved ones, I have mustered the courage and CONTROL.”
Happier: Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the 33-year-old Welsh professional dancer thanked fans for their support, before revealing she was in a positive mood and had put on makeup for the first time since her last round of chemotherapy
“I miss every possible aspect of dancing.” I just wanted to maintain my identity with my hair and tried to convince myself that wouldn’t work. But I would dread the pain of waking up shredding every day.”
She continued: “So far I have not been able to take control of this journey, but as you can see with some of my loved ones, I have mustered the courage and CONTROL…”
“It will take some time to get used to it and learn to love and embrace it, but for now I’m focused – not on the hair I’m losing, but on the hair I’m getting back and dancing happily Tea lover. “Who talks way too fast while rolling every rrrrr who’s still in there, with or without hair!”
Amy – who is now halfway through her chemotherapy treatment – added: “Since taking control I feel like I can now see the finish line…”
“That was a hurdle for me that I couldn’t even think about or talk about. I did it and was also halfway through the chemo limit!
I feel empowered and positive! To everyone on their own journey, whatever that may be, I send love, power, strength and courage…
Cute: Amy wore a fluffy pink hoodie over her head for the video and showed off her glowing complexion as she spoke to the camera
“I found the courage to take this step and I’m proud… (There are some funny before and after videos/reels coming, but I wanted to share the truth and hopefully help others and bring normalcy to a beautiful bald head).”
Her post comes a day after she happily told fans she was doing “really, really well” since her last round of chemotherapy – shortly after revealing she almost died due to side effects from her battle with breast cancer.
She thanked fans for their support before revealing that she was in a positive mood and had put on makeup for the first time since her last round of chemo.
The star, who is raising awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, told the camera: “I’m feeling really, really good today…Obviously I’ve had some symptoms, especially my bones, but I’m doing really well.” Good…
“On a side note, this is the first time I’ve done makeup since the last chemo and I lost a lot of eyebrows, but I got them microbladed.” But my lashes are holding up. I have some gaps, but I’m making the best of them.”
Before her latest update, Amy recalled her horrific near-death experience in an interview, recounting how she was hospitalized with sepsis and then blood clots after her first and second rounds of chemotherapy.

Amy wore a fluffy pink hoodie over her head for the video and showed off her glowing complexion as she spoke to the camera.
She then urged her followers to check her breasts, admitting: “Come on, I never thought I would be diagnosed with cancer at 32 and have my whole life put on hold for these months.” “Please, That’s how I found it because I checked it out please.”
Amy said: “Hi everyone, thanks again for all the messages asking how I’m doing. “I’m doing really, really well today. I actually slept the entire time I was having chemo. It was about four hours and I had the best sleep…
“Of course I had some symptoms, especially my bones, but I feel really good.” I want to remind you all that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Come on, let’s all do what we can to raise awareness… Get to know your own breasts…
“Get a mammogram. Come on if you don’t check who’s there. Come on, I never imagined that at 32 years old I would be diagnosed with cancer and my entire life would be put on hold for those months. Please, that’s how I found it because I was looking, so please…
“On a side note, this is the first time I’ve done makeup since the last chemo and I lost a lot of eyebrows, but I had them micro-bladed…”
“But my lashes are holding up.” I have some gaps, but I’m making the best of them. I’m really happy with it, it’s the little victories. I’m literally not leaving you alone today, am I?
“You can tell that I feel good. But I’m so excited because today feels like Christmas Eve for me because tomorrow I’m collecting something. I’ll share it with you tomorrow.’
She told The Mirror about her hospital stints: “After my first two cycles I started having the life-threatening side effects that can come with chemotherapy, so for the first month I had it all.”
“I had a fever and didn’t realize the severity of the temperature.” I got up, collapsed, mom called the emergency number and they said, “Call an ambulance immediately.” From then on, everything became very serious.

An honor: Amy was a participant in Breast Cancer Awareness Month
“I remember going to hospital and being told I had an infection, but the next day it got very bad, I didn’t respond to antibiotics for hours.”
“A week later we met the paramedics and they said if I had gone to bed that night I might not have woken up the next morning.”
She added that her last memories were of being surrounded by doctors and then a nurse explained she had gone into septic shock.
Her blood pressure was so low that her vital organs began to fail.
Amy doesn’t remember much about her time in intensive care, but said her infection markers were at “dangerous levels” until antibiotics helped.
The sepsis was caused by an infection she contracted shortly before her treatment.
Amy was then unlucky again in her second round as she suffered from blood clots in her left arm caused by complications caused by her port that administers the chemo drugs.
After the “scary” experience, she has now been taking blood thinners for six months.
Amy also shared that she initially wanted to turn down chemotherapy because it would mean “severely, losing her hair and her life,” but was eventually persuaded to do so.

Amy underwent IVF to create and freeze embryos before starting treatment in the hope of having children with her husband Ben Jones in the future.
A friend told her there was no point in freezing her embryos because if she hadn’t had the chemotherapy, she “wouldn’t be there to have these babies anyway.”
It comes after Amy returned to Strictly for a night out on Sunday during her battle with breast cancer.
The star shared a carousel of pictures from her comeback on Instagram on Sunday, showing her bonding with her co-stars after attending the pre-filming of the results show’s opening number “a few weeks ago.”
