Strictly’s Amy Dowden reveals which fellow professional helped her through her latest “serious” health crisis – three weeks after completing chemotherapy for breast cancer

Strictly’s Amy Dowden has revealed which colleague from the show helped her through her recent “serious” health scare.

The 32-year-old dancer was rushed to hospital on Monday after suffering another scare following her battle with breast cancer.

The star, who completed chemotherapy three weeks ago, said she had been diagnosed with a blood clot in her lungs but was recovering well.

Now she has told how Strictly’s Neil Jones rushed to her aid after she needed injections for blood clots following her stay in hospital.

She has been taking blood-thinning tablets during her treatment since August, but since the clot in her lung she has switched to stronger injections.

After attending the live Strictly show in London on Saturday, she took to her Instagram Story on Sunday and said: “Big shout out to Mr Neil Jones for helping me last night as it’s like a proper costume Spanking.”

“I’ve had so many people write to me saying, ‘Yeah, they’re gross, aren’t they?’

Regarding her overall health, she added: “I have two blood clots in my arm, and then if another blood clot forms in my lung, then of course I need something stronger.”

“So I committed myself to the injections, which I’m slowly getting used to,” she said, before confessing that she’s “nonsense” when it comes to getting the shots.

Her sweet message to Neil comes just months after the 41-year-old expressed his support for his Strictly friend.

He said: “I know everyone’s going to have someone calling and all that, so especially with Amy, I’ll send her a little message every now and then and just say, ‘If you need anything – let us do it.’ Just know that we are always there for you.”

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the Strictly Come Dancing star described her “nightmare week” after being rushed to hospital with the blood clot.

In a video, Amy told her fans: “Unfortunately I had another nightmare this week.” It just never seems to end…

“I was admitted to hospital on Monday and on Tuesday I found out I had another blood clot in my lung.”

“They were really worried that the clot might travel to my heart or affect my heart.” Luckily, it didn’t.

“You can see I had drips all over my hands.” This is of course a shock and just means I’m really disappointed now because I was on blood thinners anyway due to the blood clots in my arm.

“And now I have a blood clot in my lung, obviously because it’s so close to my heart that it poses a risk.”

“I am now on blood thinning injections which are not good and really cause stomach pain.”

“I was just really frustrated, I’ve got a lot of plans this week and it just seems like you know something’s going to come up as soon as I get it back.”

“I think when we’re done with chemo we think that’s it, but you realize that’s actually not the case. “The chemo stays in the body for six weeks and I’ve only just started treatment completed in three weeks.

“So yeah, I just wanted to update you guys, so now I’m home after a few days in the hospital.”

This came after Amy shared the sad news that she had broken her foot just days after the bell rang as she finished her chemotherapy treatment at the end of November.

Amy posted a picture of her foot tied into a boot as she expressed her despair over the situation in a new post on her Instagram page.

She wrote: “Not the week I was hoping for since I finished chemo.” Port dropped out but unfortunately got the boot because of his broken foot.

“I am absolutely disappointed and heartbroken as plans for me to dance in Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible.”

“That’s what’s kept me going these last few months. 2023 is certainly not my year, let’s move on to 2024, I say!’

She recently starred in a stunning photo shoot for Women’s Health UK as she opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis as the magazine’s December cover star.

She was the picture of confidence on the glamorous show as she opened up about the life-changing ordeal she has endured since her diagnosis in May.

The star appeared in a series of stunning new pictures as she posed without a wig – hoping to inspire others who find themselves in her situation.

The dancer added: “I just want to be treated like normal. “When I go outside and wear my headscarf, I don’t want any sympathetic looks or pity for me – I’m Amy

“Sometimes people don’t know how to deal with it. Just ask how I am and I will answer you. We don’t want you to feel sorry for us. We accept it. Stay strong with us… Don’t look at me with such pity – I don’t need that!’

After her initial diagnosis in May, Amy underwent a mastectomy in July.

Speaking about her husband and former dance partner Ben Jones, who was there from the start of her Crohn’s diagnosis, she added: “Nothing’s going to break us now!”

Amy beamed in photos with doctors and nurses from the Sheldon ward as she rang the traditional bell to celebrate the end of chemotherapy last month.

The dancer smiled as she was surprised by family and friends at the hospital who wore matching pink T-shirts and bought balloons, flowers and cake for her.

The BBC star admitted it was her “toughest journey yet” as she spoke about completing chemotherapy and thanked everyone for their support.

She wrote: “I still can’t believe I had my last chemo on Thursday.” The relief is unique. But I couldn’t have done it without these guys.

“Honestly the Sheldon units are truly real heroes.” Selfless, hardworking, caring team who put all their patients first and always reassured me when I had my breakdowns, doubts and worries and of course I listened to everyone my stories (mainly dancing). I will be forever grateful to all of you!

Amy revealed she was still in

Amy revealed she was still in “disbelief” when she told her about her last round of chemotherapy three weeks ago (pictured with her husband Ben).

“But also my family and friends.” You know who you are. The chemo club to help Ben and I with anything and everything. My parents who came to stay and help with every session.

“I enjoyed my surprise that you were all there with t-shirts, balloons, flowers and cake when I rang for chemotherapy!” THANK YOU SO MUCH!

“My hardest journey yet, but I did it.” Honestly, there is so much to be thankful for, but we really appreciate it. “Your love and support through this period has been absolutely amazing and I can never thank you enough.”

Ahead of the big day, Amy admitted she “cried all morning” as she arrived for her eighth and final round of chemotherapy with her husband Ben.

She later shared a photo of herself and two others who had also completed their chemotherapy treatment.
