This agreement, which came after lightning-fast negotiations between the two parties in recent days, could put an end to the labor dispute that has paralyzed many film and television productions for several months.

“What we have achieved through this agreement […] “is the result of our members’ willingness to exercise their power, demonstrate their solidarity, walk side by side and endure the impact and uncertainty of the last 146 days,” the Writers Guild of America (WGA) wrote in an email to their members members on Sunday.

“We can say with great pride that this agreement is exceptional. It includes significant profits and better protection for screenwriters across the board,” the union says.

The agreement in principle must now be approved by a majority of the members of the WGA, which includes more than 11,000 screenwriters.

The union is also informing its members that a return to work is out of the question for the time being until the strike is officially over.

However, the WGA is suspending picketing until further notice.
