EXTRAORDINARY – Mother Nature has struck again. In the Bashkortostan region of western Russia, firefighters intervened on Sunday, January 8, for a burning house in Ufa. After opening the first water pipes, they immediately froze when they came into contact with the sub-zero temperatures and transformed the house into a mirror palace.
At the beginning of the year night temperatures in Ufa fell below -30 degrees, during the day the thermometer is not much warmer. After the flames were extinguished, the water eventually turned to ice on contact with the outside, as you can see in the video at the top of this article.
The regional ministry of Bashkortostan has already reported almost 200 fires since the beginning of 2023. The often devastating fires claimed around ten lives in the first few days of the year. Faced with this constant threat, authorities have urged citizens to take extra precautions when using heaters and stoves.
