Photographs of some of the greatest icons of the 20th century were put up for sale for thousands of dollars at a recent auction for the Swann Auction House.
Among the photos that were auctioned and sold for thousands of dollars were nude shots of Marilyn Monroe by photographer Lawrence Schiller, which fetched $12,000.
Psychedelic snapshots of George Harrison from The Beatles by legendary photographer Richard Avedon fetched $38,000.
There are also rare prints of Brooke Shields iconic photos promoting Calvin Klein Jeans.
Photographs by legendary artist Andy Warhol are also part of the Swann Galleries auction, including photographs by William Burroughs and famous photobooth images by Holly Solomon that have been put up for sale.

The photos were sold by noon on February 23 and totaled thousands of dollars
Schiller famously announced in his book that he photographed the asterisk “on the way down” while he was on his way up
Schiller has said in interviews that he first photographed Monroe when he was just 23 years old
Monroe was 34 years old in 1960 when she posed for Schiller for the first time

A psychedelic photograph by George Harrison topped the estimate of $15,000-$20,000 and was purchased for $38,000
