It is not clear exactly where the submersible “Titan” is located.
According to the operator Oceangate Expeditions, the oxygen on board the missing “Titan” submersible should be enough for 96 hours. According to estimates by rescue teams, this window of time may have already closed – however, experts pointed out that such information is just an imprecise value.
Is there still oxygen in the submersible “Titan”?
Time serves only as a guideline, he said. So there could still be air for the five occupants if they managed to save oxygen, for example, by moving little or not at all.
“We don’t know how long they’re really going to last in terms of oxygen levels,” marine researcher Simon Boxall of the University of Southampton told NBC News. All that is known is that the critical point in time is “imminent”. Retired British Rear Admiral Chris Parry told Sky News: “I’m afraid it’s looking too bleak”. Even if the “Titan” was found, it would take a long time to save the boat. The likelihood that the five prisoners will survive is “incredibly small”.
Location of the submersible “Titan” unknown
So far, it is not known where exactly the “Titan” is, nor if the submersible is intact. On board are five men aged between 19 and 77. Several ships are looking in the Atlantic for the missing submersible that was on its way to the wreckage of the “Titanic” at about 3,800 meters deep. Contact has been broken since Sunday morning (local time).
