Substitute for Mother’s Day: “This is wokism at its worst,” says Éric Duhaime

Éric Duhaime is protesting a second case of “clumsiness of woke teachers” and wants to replace Mother’s and Father’s Day with World Parents’ Day on June 1st.

This event came after second grade teachers at a school in the Quebec region took the initiative to abolish Mother’s Day due to the “homogeneity of the families” of the students in the class.

In fact, a school service center in the Laurentians sent a letter to parents stating, “The UN has declared June 1st as World Parents’ Day. […] This replaces Mother’s and Father’s Day, which will not be celebrated at school this year.

According to the leader of the Quebec Conservative Party, “It springs from an awakened thought that is beginning to gain a foothold in our school system.”

“It has to stop, all people have a mother,” he said.

He justified his remarks by recalling the motion unanimously adopted in the National Assembly a few weeks ago, stressing that having drag queens read stories to children helps make Quebec an example of promoting equality.

Duhaime claims these are not isolated incidents, but rather the beginning of an “awakened” movement.

“I don’t know of any gay people or gay groups who are currently calling for Mother’s Day to be abolished because they have two fathers. It doesn’t come from there at all,” he says.

“This is wokism at its worst.”

“The minister has to send clear instructions,” he says.

“I know him well enough, Bernard, I know it’s not necessarily a wake-up call, but at some point he has to have the courage to face the wake-up call and say that’s not acceptable,” he added.

Bernard Drainville spoke to the media on Wednesday morning.

“I don’t agree with the idea of replacing Mother’s or Father’s Day with Parent’s Day,” he said.
