Succession, a dark and unnerving chronicle of a powerful family being torn apart to take control of a media empire, won the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series of the Year on Monday, September 12. This program, which aired back in 2020 on the HBO channel and, according to many critics, was largely inspired by the struggles within the family of billionaire Rupert Murdoch, was already the winner of 2020, notably beating the Korean series Squid Game produced by Netflix.
For the rest of the awards, the quirky series Ted Lasso, which follows a lost American football coach as he takes control of an English football team, was voted best comedy of the year. Already awarded the Oscar equivalent for American television in 2021, this Apple TV+ production starring Jason Sudeikis has once again prevailed against competitors such as Hacks or Barry.
