Sued for being late on stage Madonna will defend herself

Sued for being late on stage: Madonna will defend herself “vigorously”.

The Madonna clan and Live Nation are fighting back: They are ready to fight the lawsuit filed by two New York concertgoers against the Material Girl for starting concerts later than announced.

In a statement to Billboard magazine, Madonna's management team and Live Nation said they would “vigorously defend this matter.”

“Concerts started in North America [au Barclays Center] in Brooklyn [à l’heure] planned, with the exception of a technical error during the sound test on December 13th. This resulted in a delay that was well documented in the media at the time,” they also argue.

Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, two fans of the star who had tickets to concerts at the Barclays Center in December, filed a civil lawsuit last week.

By starting her show at 10:30 p.m. instead of 8:30 p.m. as stated on the tickets, Madonna caused the plaintiffs legal harm, they believe.

They argue that the late end of the concert made it more difficult to use public transport to get home, depriving them of hours of sleep even on weekday evenings.

“The defendants’ actions constitute not only a breach of their contracts, but also a deliberate exercise of false advertising, negligent representation, and unfair and deceptive trade practices,” attorneys for both men claim.

In Montreal, Madonna didn't keep her admirers waiting too long, at least during the first of the two performances of the Celebration tour show, which began at 9:50 p.m.
