Sunrise: Kylie Gillies interrupts the live broadcast when her alarm clock rings

Awkward moment Sunrise host Kylie Gillies interrupts the live broadcast as her phone alert goes off: “I love how you all knew it was me.”

Kylie Gillies learned an important lesson on Wednesday: Silencing your cellphone won’t stop the alarm from going off.

The 55-year-old is taking a week off from her usual gig as host of Seven’s The Morning Show to fill in for Natalie Barr on the earlier shift at Sunrise.

She suffered an embarrassing on-air slip when her usual alarm clock rang at 5:40 a.m. during reporter Sally Bowrey’s newscast.

Though Kylie put her phone on silent for the show, she didn’t turn off her morning alarm, causing some desk clutter.

The Sunrise team later ripped them because of the bug.

Appealing to Sunrise regulars Sally and David “Kochie” Koch, Kylie said, “The phone has gone on silent! Who would have thought that your alarm clock could still ring?’

“Everybody knows that, Kylie,” Sally replied.

Seeing the funny side of her mistake, the mother-of-two later joked on Instagram that it was obvious to everyone in the studio who forgot to turn off their alarm clock.

“Love how you all knew it was me! What a loser! I usually wake up at 5:40 for the morning show. Not used to such an early start!’ She wrote.

In May, Kylie celebrated 33 years of marriage to journalist Tony Gillies, the father of her two sons.

Earlier this year, she shared the touching personal story behind a performance of Dancing with the Stars: All Stars, revealing it was a tribute to her late father, Ron.

She and her dance partner Aric Yegudkin chose the Viennese waltz for the competition, a favorite of her father.
