Popular Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac is taking an extended break from his role on the show to focus on fatherhood.
The 42-year-old host announced Monday that he would be stepping away from his on-air duties for a month while he takes his paternity leave.
Sam’s decision will allow his stylist partner Rebecca James, 35, to return to work for the first time since giving birth.
Speaking to 7Life, Sam said he was looking forward to spending quality time with Margot, who has recently started running.
“It’s my turn to raise Margot, feed her and basically become her personal assistant/servant,” Sam joked.

“Margot has changed so much in the last few months. So it’s super exciting to spend some quality time with her.”
In an interview with Monday’s New Idea magazine, Sam also praised Sunrise for being so supportive and said he was “so grateful” for the “opportunity” to take some time off to be with his family.
“I was worried that I was one of those parents who was too busy working to fully experience all the milestones with my child,” he explained.

“I love my job, but I’m often not at home.” “I can see what I’m missing in Margot’s development,” Sam admitted.
Sam will be replaced by Sunrise presenter Katie Brown during his absence.
Sam and Rebecca welcomed Margot in September 2022, two years after they met.
Sam announced the happy news at the time, writing: “This is a love I didn’t even know existed.” I’m overwhelmed and still processing the whole thing. My girls. Wow.’
