Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac cried out an unfortunate newspaper headline falsely suggesting he was a drug user.
Wednesday’s edition of The Daily Telegraph featured a story about the Channel Seven personality who recently became a father for the first time, alongside the headline: “Sam’s latest prediction is less sleep, more bags.”
Surprised by the headline, which was believed to have gone through several editorial checks before being sent to the printers, the 40-year-old shared a photo of the article on Instagram alongside the caption: “Sorry what?”

“Bags” is a slang term for a pack of drugs, usually a standard quantity for sale, and is most commonly used in relation to cocaine.
However, the “bags” mentioned in the article were actually hand luggage, which he now needs more frequently when traveling due to his growing family.

Sam’s followers were amused by the slip.
“Wow, that’s very funny,” wrote former Neighbors star Bonnie Anderson, while podcast host Laura Byrne added, “Sounds expensive.”
Grant Denyer, a former Sunrise weatherman, said he “happily hands over the rumor mill to you,” alluding to the drug abuse rumors that have dogged him for years.

It comes after Sam sat down with his daughter Margot, now 12 weeks, and his girlfriend Rebecca James for an interview for Stellar magazine.
“I used to drive away for three nights with a small tote bag. But now it’s a full operation,” he laughed.
“If you travel with Margot, you have to travel with more stuff than the TV crew – and that includes a satellite, the lights and cameras.”
