He is known for his quick wit and humor.
But Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac almost lost his composure on Thursday when he risked his neck in a death-defying car stunt live on the breakfast show.
The 40-year-old got into a buggy and was driven at high speed down a ramp at Movie World on the Gold Coast.

Sam laughed in fear as the black vehicle, being driven by a stuntman, blew up in the air before landing heavily.
“Good morning Australia,” Sam yelled as the roll-cage-equipped buggy shot meters high after hitting the ramp.
The stunt was part of Movie World’s regular attraction, Hollywood Stunt Driver 2.
Sam, who recently welcomed his first child with partner Bec James, later admitted he slipped up during the hair-raising stunt.

During a cross to Sunrise co-hosts Natalie Barr and David Koch, he said he grabbed the driver’s arm during the stunt.
“I don’t think it’s part of the protocol,” he said, “thank god it was his arm!”
‘Oops! That could almost have been a disaster!” a shocked Natalie said to Sam.

It followed an earlier Sunrise segment on Thursday when Sam almost went too far on the family-friendly breakfast show.
When Sam was filming at a Queensland cabaret club, parents were sent in a hurry to cover their children’s eyes.
Shown during Sam’s weather report, it featured two scantily clad burlesque dancers performing a fast-paced aerial exercise.
