Sunrise’s Nat Barr takes a dig at Kyle Sandilands for claiming David “Kochie” Koch is “senile”

Sunrise’s Nat Barr slams Kyle Sandilands for joking that her former co-host David “Kochie” Koch is “senile” and will “soon forget his name” at age 67.

Nat Barr had to defend her former Sunrise co-host David “Kochie” Koch during an awkward on-air chat with KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands on Thursday.

The 55-year-old host of The Seven became upset during an interview with The Kyle And Jackie O Show after Kyle, 52, made a baseless and cruel joke about Kochie’s cognitive abilities at the age of 67.

“He’s only a few weeks away from not knowing what his name is,” Sandilands said of Kochie, who retired last week after 21 years as Sunrise presenter.

‘Stop! You were nice to him when he came here [your radio show],’ snapped a nat.

“Now you’re saying he’s senile. It’s not good,” she added.

Kyle refused to apologize, telling Nat that he didn’t care what Kochie thought of him.

‘[When he was on my show] I told him, “You and I will never talk to each other again once you’re out of the celebrity world,” Kyle explained.

Nat seemed disappointed by the shock jock’s admission, telling him that Kochie “sincerely believed Kyle was a nice guy.”

‘I am!’ Kyle scoffed, to which Nat bluntly replied, “Only when you’re in front of people.”

“That’s right,” Kyle replied simply, while Nat replied sharply, “Okay, okay.” We know now.

Kochie officially left Sunrise on Friday, after a record 21-year stint on the show.

The breakfast presenter made the announcement live on the show late last month, kicking off the bombshell by saying, “Before we go any further, just some news from me.”

He told viewers after “nearly 21 years and 5300 shows” that he felt it was time to pass the torch on to the next generation.

“I started here before Facebook, before Instagram, before Twitter and iPhones. “That’s how old I am,” he said, while his co-host Nat got visibly emotional.

“I enjoyed every minute of it and am incredibly proud of what we have achieved here over the past 21 years.” I have been privileged to experience so many great adventures, meet so many different people and so many moments of the making to experience history. It really is the best job in the world.”

He was replaced by former Olympic sprinter Matt Shirvington, 44.
