A famous animated film recently hit the big screen and has already set the record for the best opening ever. The worldwide box office has brought in $377 million to date, far exceeding other productions in the animation genre.
And here we are referring to Super Mario Bros.: The Movie, which also managed to gross $146.36 million between last Friday (7) and Sunday (9) only in the US. The box office numbers of the production developed by Universal and Illumination should be even more striking.
Apparently there was a big shift in values after the Easter holidays as people had free time to go to the cinema and enjoy it.

Although Super Mario Bros. is already the animated film with the best opening of all time, there are those who are left behind because Frozen 2, a film that has stayed at number one for a long time, made it in just three days grossing $358 million.
Even Super Mario Bros.: The Movie took a little longer to rake in $377 million as it premiered last Thursday (06).

Who was involved in the production?
While there was some debate as to who would voice Mario, a decision was made that Chris Pratt would be cast in the role.
The actor even opened up on the subject in an interview with ExtraTV, where he commented:
“It’s a passionate fan base and [as críticas] Make sense. I understand I’m part of it. You don’t want someone to come and cynically tear you up like a movie to make money. I completely understand that.”
Finally, he added that he finds this new project being developed by Universal and Illumination very funny. See:
“The film really honors the video game. It honors the world of Mario. It’s a tribute to the characters and very promising for what to expect in the next 10 years as a whole universe of this type of film. They’re super nostalgic, it’s a lot of fun, and Illumination knows what it’s doing.”
In addition to Pratt, the film also stars Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser and Anya TaylorJoy as Princess Peach. Super Mario Bros.: The Movie is available in theaters now.
