With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. set to take first place at the box office for the second year running, director James Gunn is now beginning to turn his attention to his next big project, Superman: Legacy, and the casting process currently underway . Talent has been submitting application videos for the lead roles in the upcoming film over the past few weeks, including Clark Kent aka Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor. While Gunn has only just started looking at the tapes now that the press for Guardians 3 is behind him, names in the mix for Kent include Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, Jacob Elordi and Andrew Richardson, who are responsible for the Superman role in the mix are .

Sources also add that test subjects for Lois Lane include Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Samara Weaving. The final test was submitted on May 4th and insiders with talent at the audition have been told that Gunn is to watch each tape and a decision is not expected for some time, but it looks like we’re still gaining traction will find out in the coming months who will get these coveted positions.

As for Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor, there are a number of ways he could end up. While Gunn has checked out some of the top names he has worked with in the past, sources say one role that was tested was one simply called Apex, and for those who aren’t Superman historians, this role could actually be Sei Apex Lex Luthor, who is not only a version of the villain who has the powers to fight Superman, but would also hint at a possible multiverse situation, since Apex Lex has collided with other Luthors in different dimensions.
