American supermodel of Palestinian descent Bella Hadid has Instagram (a social network owned by the target company) to limit disclosure of his account in the wake of stories the celebrity tried to publicize about the violence that erupted in clashes between Israeli police and Palestinian worshipers near Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque last Friday.
“Instagram prevented me from posting my stories almost always when it comes to Palestine I think,” lamented the model. “If I post about Palestine, I’ll be immediately banned, so almost a million fewer of you will see my stories and posts,” Hadid told her 51 million followers.
The shadowban is a restriction that enables the platform so that some users’ posts are not fully visible. This means their posts appear less for followers and the hashtags are no longer recognizable, causing these accounts to experience a significant loss of visibility and struggle to gain new followers.
“It won’t let me post again…for 2 hours,” the model commented on a screenshot showing her neglecting to post one of her recent stories.
Hadid also noted that she wasn’t allowed to upload two “very important” posts that she tried to repost from the Eye On Palestine account.
